The Grand Hotel in the well preserved British Hill Station of Nuwara Eliya is teeming with history and was the former residence of Sir Edward Barnes, governor of Sri Lanka from 1830 to 1850.
The Grand Hotel is a prime example of Victorian colonial architecture and maintains the same aura of exclusivity.

The Main Restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel, and it overlooks the beautiful gardens and offers a wide choice in both Western and Eastern cuisine.
The Coffee Shop is also on the ground floor, located close to the Main Restaurant and specialises in serving light meals and snacks.
The Public Bar is probably the most popular meeting place, where guests gather to share anecdotes over a glass of the stuff that sends spirits soaring.
The Supper Club, with its panoramic bar and lounge and elegantly furnished dining area, serves a la carte meals in an intimate and romantic atmosphere. If the mood of the moment makes you want to move to the music played at the Supper Club, grab your dinner partner and cut a dash on the dance floor.
The spacious Ballroom seats up to 200 guests theatre style, and is a popular venue for in-house banquets and conferences. A private and well appointed Board Room, which seats up to 25 guests, is also available for small meetings and conferences.
