The Grand Oriental Hotel is one of Sri Lanka's oldest. Built in 1837 it is located in the Fort area of Colombo and overlooks the harbour, meaning you get a taste of the 'real' Colombo, while still enjoying the luxuries of a top hotel.
Known as the Taprobane for a long time, the hotel was only popular with the passing ships passengers, but became something of a landmark in the upper echelons of the Colombo social scene. The hotels ballroom is famous and the crockery has become something of a collectors item.

Harbour Room - Timeless elegance characterises the hotel's panoramic view of the harbour. The internationally acclaimed, themed restaurant features western and eastern cuisine created with an Asian twist, using the region's cooking techniques.
Sri Lankan Restaurant - A restaurant well known for its signature dishes. A Special Sri Lankan lunch buffet, daily from 12:30 pm to 3 pm. A typical Sri Lankan dinner buffet daily from 7:30 pm to 12 midnight. Daily "HAPPY HOUR" at the Maduwitha Bar from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Tap bar - Located in the basement of the hotel, with a fine selection of local spirits and remarkably friendly service.
Tiffin Hut - Delicious pastries and cakes are the highlights of the Tiffin hut, which provides a warm and inviting experience. Open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
