The Grand Oriental Hotel (GOH) was built in 1837, and is located in the heart of the financial centre of Colombo Fort, overlooking the harbour.
Also known as the Taprobane for some time, The Grand Oriental Hotel was popular not only with ships' passengers but also with the Colombo City residents, as the hotel had acquired a reputation for ballroom dancing. The Grand Oriental crockery and furniture became collectors' items and were adopted for fashionable use as GOH plates and GOH chairs respectively.
Harbour Room - Timeless elegance characterises the hotel's panoramic view of the harbour. The internationally acclaimed, themed restaurant features western and eastern cuisine created with an Asian twist, using the region's cooking techniques.
Sri Lankan Restaurant - A restaurant well known for its signature dishes. A Special Sri Lankan lunch buffet, daily from 12:30 pm to 3 pm. A typical Sri Lankan dinner buffet daily from 7:30 pm to 12 midnight. Daily "HAPPY HOUR" at the Maduwitha Bar from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Tap bar - Located in the basement of the hotel, with a fine selection of local spirits and remarkably friendly service.
Tiffin Hut - Delicious pastries and cakes are the highlights of the Tiffin hut, which provides a warm and inviting experience. Open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
