DAY 1 : Warmly meet and greet at the Airport and transfer to Uswatakeiyawa. Check in at Palm village hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2 : After breakfast, check out form the hotel and proceed straight to Dambulla. Check in at Palwehera resort. (travel time approximately 6 hrs) After a short break, proceed on a site seeing tour around the 1st capital of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura ... the most celebrated of Sri Lanka's ancient ruined cities, the greatest treasures are its dagabes constructed of small sun-dried bricks and are hemispherical in shape. The most notable of these dagabes are the Ruwanweli Seya which dates back to the 2nd Century BC and is 300ft in diameter, the Jetavanarama that is 370ft and the Thuparama which enshrines the collarbone of the Buddha. The city's most renowned relic is the Sacred Bo Tree grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historic tree in the world. (Travel time approximately 2 1/2 hrs) Transfer from Anuradhapura to Dambulla. Overnight stay at Palwehera Hotel.

DAY 3 : After breakfast, proceed to Polonnaruwa and continue your journey on site seeing tour around the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Transfer from Dambulla to Polonnaruwa. (Travel time approximately 1 hr)

Polonnaruwa... the island's medieval capital (11th - 13th Centuries AD). A unique Irrigation complex (the sea of Parakrama) watered the city as well as the surrounding plains. The largest of the man made reservoirs, the huge Parakrama Samudra, is larger in size than the Colombo Harbour. Of all the brilliant structures found in Polonnaruwa, the Gal Vihara is the best known, where colossal Buddha images are carved on the face of a granite boulder. Transfer from Polonnaruwa to Sigiriya. (Travel time approximately 45 minutes) Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a world heritage site.

Sigiriya... meaning lion rock is more than just a fortress; it was one of the most unique cities in the history of Sri Lanka. A massive monolith of red stone that rises 600ft, this famous rock fortress, stark and forbidding, haunted by an epic story of murder and betrayal, was built in the 5th Century AD by King Kashyapa. The climb to the summit is reached between the paws of a lion. A niche in the rock is decorated with frescoes of spellbindingly lovely maidens; it has a moat abutted by a wall and is surrounded by rock and water gardens. Proceed back to the hotel for rest and overnight stay.

DAY 4 : After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Dambulla to climb the Dambulla rock temple. Dambulla... the Dambulla cave temple is by far the most impressive of all the many cave temples in Sri Lanka. Among the cave's numerous statues - there are 48 of the Buddha alone - are images of Upulvan (Vishnu) and Saman dating from the 12th Century (they may be the earliest devala statues to appear in a Buddhist image house). The cave's history dates to the 2nd or 1st Century BC, when King Valagam Bahu took refuge here after being driven out of Anuradhapura by invading armies.

After the site seeing tour proceed straight to Kandy. Check in at Hotel Topaz and spend the full day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 5 : After breakfast is leisurely taken, proceed on a site seeing tour around the sacred city of Kandy.

Kandy... this royal city, sheltered by the hills and looped by the Mahaweli - Sri Lanka's longest river, still holds religious and cultural significance. A stroll around the sleepy, but serene Kandy Lake, where balmy winds waft across, a walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens located at Peradeniya and a visit to the University of Peradeniya - the spacious green campus lies out near the banks of the Mahaweli is a must for any visitor to Kandy the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Late evening witness a cultural Kandiyan dance performance. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 6 : Breakfast at Hotel. Transfer from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. (Travel time approximately 3 1/2 hrs)

Nuwara Eliya... nestled in a wooded basin at the foot of Mount Piduruthalagala Sri Lanka's highest peak, this region (at 6,183ft above sea-level) has a cool, crisp climate unknown elsewhere in Sri Lanka. A serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of Colombo, the town seems like a piece of the English Lake District. Unusual plants, birds and animals thrive here as well as natural features like waterfalls and caves. Tea, the glistening green leaves of this lovely shrub, along with neat rows of green, cloak ridges and valleys providing a lasting impression of Sri Lanka's Hill Country. Highlights include the golf course - one of the finest and most picturesque in Asia - plus the serene Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, beautiful parks and well kept lawns and hedges give the place an air of nostalgia. Overnight stay at Windsor hotel.

DAY 7 : After breakfast proceed to Colombo through the winding routes of Kitulgala. En-route, witness the Kelani River where the famous "Bridge of the River kwai" has being made. This River is famous among light adventure lover for white water rafting. (Travel time approximately 6 hrs)

Continue your journey to Colombo. Check in at Asian Villa hotel. After a short break at the hotel, proceed on a site seeing tour around the busy routes of Colombo.

Colombo... Sri Lanka's capital up to recent times, spread along the shore of the Indian Ocean for some miles, where business and commerce begin and end. A drive through the city will take you to Colombo's most fashionable residential district - the Cinnamon Gardens and the Pettah, Colombo's busiest and most traditional bazaar area. Visits to the Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal dating back to 1749, the historic Devatagaha mosque and the Ganagaramaya Temple. While the city holds less obvious interest than many other parts of the island, it's still a colorful enough place and worth a visit to see what makes Sri Lanka tick. Overnight stay at the hotel.
