Ride a trishaw through Colombo's chaotic yet good humoured traffic. Sightseeing in the city includes the Dutch architecture in the Fort area; the Victorian Lighthouse Clock Tower; the Buddhist monuments around Beira Lake; and the wonderful Galle Face Hotel. Still perched grandly on the seafront, it is a wonderful place to drink tea and sample some deliciously spicy, coconut-infused Sri Lankan cuisine.
Then you will visit the Cinnamon Gardens for more of the preserved Colonial atmosphere before visiting the National Museums. Avid shoppers should not miss Kollupitiya Market, where great deals can be had on clothing in the department stores. Finish up by sampling Colombo's café society on Colombo 7 and be sure to chat with the local Colombo people - they are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. One of the best things about any part of Sri Lanka are the ever ready smiles.
DAY 1: Warmly met and greeted at the airport and proceed to Colombo. (45 minutes drive) Check in at Indra Regent Hotel. Spend the full day at rest and get rid of the fatigue. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 2: After breakfast is leisurely taken, proceed on a site seeing tour around the busy routes of Colombo. Visit the Ganagaramaya Buddhist temple, The Beira Lake, Bandaranayke memorial hall, the Independence square, etc. Colombo city is teaming with various shopping complexes and outlets. You can enjoy a good deal if you bargain well. (For your convenience the vehicle will drop you at a certain place and will come to pick you up again at a pre agreed time). As the shops can go on for a while, try out the mini taxis (three wheelers or "Tuk Tuks") that are willing to take you to that shopping complex at a certain cost. Proceed back to the hotel for the overnight stay.
DAY 3: After breakfast and according to the flight details, check out from the hotel and proceed to the airport for departure.
