Colombo weather forecast

Most areas of Sri Lanka have a tropical climate typical of equatorial regions. It is warm throughout the year, with little variation from month to month. On the coast, the heat is moderated by sea breezes. The temperature in Colombo usually ranges from 22°C to 31°C. Rainfall is relatively abundant through the year, but often falls in short afternoon showers. In the hill country, temperatures are somewhat lower, but seldom fall below 10°C.

Travellers who are unused to tropical climates can suffer from sunburn or dehydration. Use high-factor sunscreen, and bring a sun hat and a pair of dark glasses.
